Chulo Smit-ten

Chulo Smit-ten is about my nephew playing outside in Spring 2008. I was trying to walk the tight rope of not making an extremely famine but elegant layout. I am using an 8x8 in canvas to create the layout. Baby Pink (633) Folk Art paint was used as the base color. Canvas was then highlighted with Metallic Antique Cooper paint and sprayed with Glimmer Mist Frost. A thick coat of Tim Holtz Distress Picket Fence crackle paint was used over the surface of the canvas and dried with the hot heating gun.  Once crackle paint was dried the canvas was lightly brushed with Folk Art Metallic Inca Gold. The Tradewinds paper from DCWV is seen as burgundy pieces of paper. These pieces were torn and rolled inwards. DCWV Cafe Mediterranean is the green paper that was torn and used as 2nd matting paper. My Minds Eye Lost of & Found paper, 1rst matting, was torn, crumpled, and sanded.

Michael's Recollections lace was used at the bottom of the layout. The words "Chulo" was welded with my Gypsy cut out using my Cricut Expression on DCWV Cafe Mediterranian paper. The words were then highlighted with Tim Holtz Peeled Pain Stamp ink. The word smitten is from the Making Memories 2004 collection.

Orange flower is from Michael's Recollections and leaves are from I am Roses (Thainland).

Prima Say it in Crystal and Pearls was used around the layout to accent layout.

Sentiment was provided by DCWV Vellum Quote Stacks. The bottom edges were torn and saying was ran through my Xron 510.

Spring 2008 tag was altered from saying Spring 2003 and is from a Making Memories kit I purchased in 2003 from QVC.  The bumble bee hiding behind the flower is being a held with a brad and was purchased online.

Enjoy!

Extraordinary Treasures

Hope you enjoy this album. It was made with a special someone in mind. I left it light of embellishments so they could add their own character.

It's simple to make, you will just need some envelopes.

Enjoy!

Altered Clothes Pin

Remember hanging clothes outside with your mother or grandmother with wooden clothes pin. How wonderful everything looked outside, on the line, as the breeze blew? Why not capture that feeling all year around with an altered clothes pin. Here I used the DCWV Mariposa paper collection to cover the clothes pin. I cut out and Ultra Embossed some butterflies from the collection and the Monarch Butterfly Martha Stewart Punch. Prima Pearls were adhered on various part for an elegant look. And of course, I had to use my "I am roses" flowers as much as possible.
Metal charms were purchased on ebay for no more than $1.00 + 3.99 shipping and handling. Lace was placed in between the clothes pin to create a touch of whimsy.

This is a place card I created to insert inside the clothes pin. I used the Tim Holt Tabs on the Edge Die, a grunge ticket, remnant lace, and some pearls by the yard.
Inside I used my Tim Holtz stamps to stamp and created a day record using my Autumn Leaves For the Record stamp.

Hope you like making one for your memories.

Enjoy,

We Crab You

Hello everyone. Why stick a note in a flower arrangement when you can make art? This is a super quick and cute Valentine Day card. I completely made this card out of DCWV Latte Stack paper. And...you know I used my Gypsy and Cricut machine.  Cartridges used were: Wild Cards, Create A Critter, and Alphalicious. The phrase "We Crab You" is highlighted by some Michael's Reflection mini roses (totally 50% off this week). I tore the right side of the card and highlighted the rough edge with Studio G Glitter Glue in Bronze. The recipient will embrace a one-of-a-kind card long after the leaves have wilted.

Have a great day with your luved ones.

Enjoy,

Kiki
